Metropolitan Volunteer Partners – MVPs
“Each of you should use what-ever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” 1Peter 4:10
Beginning in 2014, LCR was blessed to partner with Metropolitan Ministries to serve meals to the homeless. Every 4th and 5th Tuesday of the month, volunteers from LCR serve at the Pasco Metropolitan Ministry campus from 5:30-7:30PM.
Currently, 65,000 people in Pasco County live below poverty level – just one emergency away from homelessness. And it’s not just a job loss that could push them over the edge. Money is so tight that one day off work to take care of a sick child might mean a single mom can’t pay next month’s utility bill. 3,305 persons were homeless in Pasco County on any given day in 2013. Over 700 families reached out to Metropolitan Ministries looking for housing solutions in 2014.
Miracles for Pasco supportive housing units help homeless families and single women reach housing stabilization by providing emergency shelter and core supportive services. Families will be cared for in the facility for a period of 3-6 months before finding permanent housing. A replicable model of this program in Hillsborough County, has had an astounding 93% success rate one year later. Miracles for Pasco will enable the same results in Pasco County.
By serving those in our community who need a kind word, a friendly face or a warm meal, MVPs believe we can live out the Gospel of Christ in response to God’s grace.
In addition to serving meals, MVPs also contribute to the cost. If you are unable to serve, but feel called to support this ministry financially, just mark your gift “Metropolitan Ministries” and LCR’s admin staff will make sure it gets to Metro.
