Winter Concert Series schedule:

January 16, 2022 @ 2:00pm – Fellowship Hall : Harrison Jazz Trio – $35

Originally formed in 2007, the Harrison Jazz Trio, led by Roger Harrison is best known for their focus on “The Great American Songbook” – not an actual book or list – but the canon of the most important and influential American popular songs and jazz standards from the early 20th century that have stood the test of time in their life and legacy. Often referred to as “American Standards”, the songs published during the Golden Age of this genre include those popular and enduring tunes from the 1920s to the 1950s created for Broadway theatre, musical theatre and Hollywood musical film. The group performs at corporate, municipal and residential events and is known both for its fun-loving and professional demeanor.
The Harrison Jazz Trio concert, held in LCR’s fellowship hall will focus on New Orleans-style jazz, served up with drinks
and hors doeuvres of Louisiana Gumbo.

February 6, 2022 @ 2:00pm – Sanctuary – Black & White Duo (in the round) – $25

It’s a story of two Wisconsinites, growing up to love music, taking piano and organ lessons, attending university with degrees in music, going on to share their gifts as choir/music directors, working just blocks away from each other – and never meeting. Until Art Jaehnke and his wife moved to Florida and joined LCR where Lynne Buelo was Director of Music and the Arts. Lynne and Art will perform in-the-round in the sanctuary with a theme of “Black & White” reflected in the after glow desserts.

Lynne Buelo is an accomplished musician in her own right; but much more than the church organist or choir director, Lynne designs and oversees creative musical and artistic ways for members to share their gifts with others. With the annual Christmas Concert as the highlight of the year, Lynne shepherds over 60 participants preparing for the singing, ringing, creative dancing, processional marching, instrument tuning, artistic designing of this musical extravaganza. Even with Covid 19 raging, the performances went on outdoors!

The son of a musician, Art Jaehnke grew up standing at his mother’s shoulder as she practiced the organ. Art began organ lessons at the age of 11 and never looked back. Because of his unique talent for working with others, Art’s university professor encouraged him to become a choir director himself. After 36 years of public school teaching, Art can be proud that many of his students have now gone on to national standing.
